Can I use my voice to control my phone?

If you have difficulty physically interacting with your iPhone, you can control your device using voice controls instead.

To turn on Voice Control, follow these steps:

  1. From the main screen, tap the "Settings" icon.
  2. Locate and tap "Accessibility." Then, tap "Voice Control."
  3. Tap "Set Up Voice Control." A file will begin downloading in the background.
  4. When the download is complete, a microphone icon will be displayed in the "Status Bar", indicating whether or not "Voice Control" is listening for commands.

To use Voice Control, simply speak the actions you would normally perform via touch. For example, if you would swipe down on the main screen to access the Spotlight Search, all you need to say from that screen is "Swipe down." Just as you would long-press an icon on the screen to display more options, simply say "Long press [app name]."

To view all of the available commands for Voice Control, follow these steps:

  1. From the main screen, tap the "Settings" icon.
  2. Locate and tap "Accessibility." Then, tap "Voice Control."
  3. Tap "Customize Commands." Then, tap the type of commands you would like to learn more about.
