What is the “Secure Folder” feature? How do I configure it?

The “Secure Folder” feature has been pre-installed on your Galaxy and is based on the My Knox security platform, creating an encrypted, private space on your phone to keep your valuable and personal information secure.

Keep in mind that before you set up “Secure Folder,” you will need to add or create a Samsung account.

  1. From the main screen, slide the screen up.
  2. Locate and tap the "Settings" icon.
  3. Locate and tap "Biometrics and security."
  4. Locate and tap "Secure Folder." A welcome message will display. Tap “Continue.”
  5. If you have not signed in to your Samsung account, you will be prompted to do so. Enter your Samsung account credentials. Then, follow the prompts to access your account.
  6. A message will appear requesting permission to access certain information on your phone. Tap “Continue” to authorize access.
    • Note: If the Samsung Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice display, tap “Agree” to continue.
  7. After your Secure Folder is created, you will be prompted to select a pattern, PIN, or password to protect it. Follow the prompts on the screen to select the desired lock option. When finished, tap “Next” or “Continue.”
  8. A message will display prompting you to “reset your lock using your Samsung account” in case you forget your lock option. Tap “Cancel” or “Activate” to continue. If necessary, tap “OK” or "Next."
  9. The Secure Folder screen will display. Tap the "+” icon to add apps or tap the “Menu” icon, indicated by three vertical dots, to add files and adjust your settings. Follow the prompts to complete the process.
